Schedule of Tors yet to be Visited

The table below shows details of the tors and other significant rocks that we've not yet visited on our walks, since November 2005.  We will use this list in order to target a visit to as many of these tors as we are able to on future walks.  There is a separate webpage which shows a list of tors that we have already visited, together with the date of the visit and the names of the walkers on the day.  User notes for placing a 'Mark' for each individual tor on this page, in Memory Map, are shown at the foot of the page.  There is now a 'Tors to be Visited' spreadsheet available to assist with walk planning, which will just show those Tors, and other identified Features, we have yet to visit within a given defined area.  Narrowing these Tors/Features down to a specific area can prove to be very useful when planning future walks.  Notes on the use of the spreadsheet can be found at the foot of this page.

Notes:
1) 'Marking' a Tor
a) A prerequisite of being able to 'Mark' a tor is to have Memory Map, or similar compatible software, loaded onto the computer that you are using to view this website.
b) Click the black 'Arrow' button against your selected tor in the 'Go To' column and this will start the 'Mark' being downloaded to your computer.
c) You will be able to see the download take place in the bottom left-hand corner of your computer screen.
d) When the download is complete, click the 'Open file' option and this will automatically start up Memory Map, if not already open, on your computer and the 'Mark' will be shown as a black circle with a white
footprint in the appropriate place on Memory Map.
e) Once showing on Memory Map, a 'Mark' can be deleted or saved by right-clicking it and choosing the option you wish to take.

2) Tors and other Features to be Visited Spreadsheet (To assist with walk planning)
a) A prerequisite of being able to the use Tors to be Visited spreadsheet is to have Microsoft Excel available on your computer.  Excel forms a part of Microsoft's Office suite of programmes.
b) If you wish to use the spreadsheet, click the 'Tors to be Visited' link here, or at the head of this page, to download the file. When the download is complete, click 'Open file'.
c) Excel will then launch on your PC, if not already open, and the file will open automatically.  (n.b. You may get a warning message as the file is being opened and, if so, click 'Open' to continue).
d) When the file has been opened, you may see a Yellow/Orange stripe across the top of the spreadsheet.  If so, click the 'Enable Editing' option and the stripe will disappear and you can continue.
e) The spreadsheet shows the full list of Tors/Features to be visited, together with their Area, Grid Reference, Who's yet to Visit and the end column which will either display the message 'Hide' or 'Show'.
f) The aim of the spreadsheet is to show just those Tors/Features on the list that appear in the area in which your walk is being planned.
g) Firstly, you need to decide on an area for a walk and make a note of the reference of the (1k) grid square at the extreme north-west and south-east of your area.
e.g. for a walk in the Belstone area, you might identify an area of SX61/93 to SX62/88 (This would allow for a walk from Belstone Village over the Belstone Ridge to Steeperton and back through Taw Marsh).
h) When you've decided on an area, enter your 4 two-digit numbers in the 'Grid Rectangle of Proposed Walk'.   In the above example, enter the '61' in Cell M2, '93' in Cell N2, '62' in Cell M3 and '88' in Cell N3.
i) Column 'H' (Show) will display the value of 'Show' for all the Tors/Features that are within your identified area and 'Hide' for all others.
j) You can then apply a filter by selecting the little downward-pointing arrow in Cell H1, unchecking 'Select All' and checking 'Show' in the drop-down box, followed by 'OK'.
k) You will then only see those Tors/Features that appear within your grid area  (You may need to scroll up the page to reveal all the Tors that are showing).
l) You can change the grid area at any time, but follow it by unchecking the 'Show' box in the filter and then re-check it to refresh your list of Tors/Features that are showing.
m) The full list of Tors/Features can be seen again by checking the 'Select All' option in the filter box.
n) I did look at trying to create a Memory Map link to each Tor/Feature from the spreadsheet, but I'm afraid that I'm unable to get this to work over the internet.  They can still be linked from the webpage.
o) When you've finished your session with the spreadsheet, click 'File' and 'Close'.  When the 'Save' message box appears, click 'Don't Save' as the spreadsheet will still be available for download in future.
